Call me Grandma

I always wanted to learn how to knit.

I tried to crochet a few years ago and the yarn and hook are still sitting in a basket under our end table.

I was taking about my lack of yarn skills and the art teacher told me that she could teach me... I warned her that I had tried and failed before but she said that if she can teach 8th graders to knit she can teach me... ha! It seems she was right, and we only had to pull it apart and start over once! After I finish this scarf I get to learn some more difficult stitches and I'm so excited!

Get me a rocking chair and call me Grandma!

Boys in a Box

It seems that the box is still more fun than the toys that came in it.

Sorry these are so grainy... the flash was working really hard with high ceilings.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

It appears the fur-child thinks the main purpose of anyone being at home is to sit and pet him...

It's really hard to get up and do anything when that cute face is begging you to scratch behind his ears.

Finishing up the Christmas shopping =

an unexpected date night...

and earning fuel perks...

(Pardon the cell phone pictures... I actually don't take my monster camera everywhere, believe it or not!)

Christmas came early to Red Door this year. It brought us:

cute kids,

lot of cookies,

matching Christmas gifts,

and a lot of clean up!

It appears they dropped off Handy's Christmas gift a few days early... Ha!

I don't know any man that wouldn't be happy to get a large piece of machinery for Christmas.

I'm not quite sure why the city felt the perfect place for this backhoe was in front of our house??? They must have parked it and moved it about 10 times. Not the quietest thing.

Christmas time = pictures by the tree!

Busy night at Red Door...

Friday, December 17, 2010

We're getting ready for the first-ever Christmas party at Red door.

Lots of planning, shopping and cleaning... Hopefully everything goes well!

Lots of lovelies from ladies night!

I got the cute snowman night light and holiday bells from our work gift exchange. They look great in the back bathroom and on the laundry room door.

The most expensive ornament on the tree...

While decorating the Raider tree my ring got caught on one of the tree branches.... It was really stuck. Stuck enough for me to pull my finger out and go get the camera to take a picture.

It seems that shopping is just half of it... I wrapped gifts until I ran out of tissue paper and name tags. I think we are about half way done. Things are going to get a little crazy around here after this week and we want to get done as many things in advance as we can.

Did you notice the present Bevo left under the table?

Perhaps we will need a bigger tree?

The Raider Tree is making an appearance this year. It's been set up for almost two weeks but I just got around to decorating it on Sunday.

¡Bienvenidos de Honduras!

We were so excited to get a letter from our sponsor child in the mail yesterday. We got to read about her and her family.

Not only did we get a letter but also a picture she "drew" for us... It's hanging on our fridge.

Thanks to my 31 party I have so many new bags, purses and wallets I don't know which one to use!

Right now I'm in love with this red one!

One more piggy for the collection.

To Whom it May Concern:

This flower has now been in my house for a a two full weeks. Amazingly it is not even the tiniest bit dead... That's kinda a big deal.

December means 2 things at the red door... Christmas and the start of wrestling season.

'Tis the season.

It was Handy's turn to pick the Christmas tree this year... Apparently we said "Christmas tree" and he heard "Christmas hike"

We saw a lot of this during our tree picking... This aint' your grandma's tree picking trip: up the hill, over the creek, into an electric fence, back over the creek, back up the other side of the hill.

I wasn't so excited with our "Christmas hike"...

Especially when it ended by picking the first tree Handy saw from the car!

We are getting ready to send some Christmas cheer through the mail!

I love getting Christmas cards in the mail. We hang them up on the doorway between the dining room and living room just like when I was little. It's a fun and easy way to decorate!

Be on the look out for your card and the 2010 family photo!

Jacob looks pretty smart in his new glasses...

This year's keepsake ornament... the 5th in our collection.

We bought it back in July when Hallmark did their keepsake preview. Thank goodness we did. I haven't seen it any where else this year.

It's also currently the
only ornament on the tree!
