I always wanted to learn how to knit.
I tried to crochet a few years ago and the yarn and hook are still sitting in a basket under our end table.
I was taking about my lack of yarn skills and the art teacher told me that she could teach me... I warned her that I had tried and failed before but she said that if she can teach 8th graders to knit she can teach me... ha! It seems she was right, and we only had to pull it apart and start over once! After I finish this scarf I get to learn some more difficult stitches and I'm so excited!
Get me a rocking chair and call me Grandma!

Instead
Instead of getting ready for work this morning I decided to stand in the road and take pictures of the sun rise. I probably looked pretty funny out there at 6:00 am in my pj's and Handy's flip flops but the sky was lovely.
I'm glad I took a few minutes to enjoy it.

Meet Vilma
This girl is our World Vision sponsor child.
For the same price as a tank of gas we can improve her quality of life.
What is child sponsorship?
Wonderful things happen when you make the choice to sponsor a child. For only about $1 a day, you'll show your child God's unconditional love by providing them with access to critical resources such as:
- Clean Water
- Nutritious food
- Health care
- Education

Lost in Translation
It appears that "staff appreciation week" is really code for "consuming 3000 calories of deliciousness daily".
I don't think I have ever seen a cinnamon roll larger than this one... It's sitting on a full size dinner plate.

More Handy-ness
Thank goodness we have a live in "Mr. Fix-it" that doesn't charge $60 an hour like the repair man we called on the phone.
The funniest part of this was Handy Manny coming outside and asking me: "Honey, can I use your hairdryer?"
One defrosted freezer coil and thirty minutes later the fridge was working fine.

Goodbye old friend...
The Handy Man has a rule... No new flops can come home unless an old pair goes in the trash.
I really needed a new pair of Nike sandals. My old ones had been around for five summers, give or take a few, and were starting to look unsanitary. Even though I have a brand new, super comfy pair I was still sad to put the old ones in the trash.
Goodbye old friend... my toes will miss you but my nose sure won't!

The Last...
pictures I took... almost two weeks ago.
A sign that spring is near...
and a sign that it still might be a little too cold in our house.

Pile O' Pancakes
There's nothing like a steaming pile of pancakes to warm your tummy on a cold night.
When I told the Handy Man to make a double batch I never thought we would end up with 22 pancakes for two people... Good thing they are just as good for lunch the next day.

Real Money, Fake Money and 2 Furry Things
A few things going on lately...
The coupon clipping has really been paying off. We saved 62% at Giant Eagle and 47% at Buehlers... That's almost $50 in free groceries.
Church has been running a sermon series based on Monopoly. After talking about it for 3 weeks we wanted to play... but the one we had was the Dale Earnhardt version. We spent Sunday buying cars, haulers, race shops and track garages.
This kitty has the right idea... Saturday afternoon nap in the sun.
Our furry guy forgot that he wanted to be antisocial last week and has been following us around constantly. It's alright until we trip over him... he doesn't seem to mind and we don't stay mad for long.

Around the House
Me: Honey... the honey isn't very runny.
Him: Put it in the microwave.
Note to self: honey + microwave = sticky mess
This boy must be in the "puppy teenager" stage. He's suddenly become very anti-social. We were a little slow in leaving and he was sitting in his box waiting for us.
Time for my weekly date with this stuff.
At some point in the last week I have worn one or more of these at all times and still have lovely itchy skin.

Winter itch
This pup (and some people at our house) have itchy skin.
So we decided to try to put some humidity in the air. The pie pans have become plastic buckets but hopefully the end result will be the same.
Now if we can stop stepping in them and keep Bevo from drinking the water we might see if they work.

Upgrades
New cell phones made their way to red door last week. Now the Handy Man has to teach me how to use them.
p.s: the pink one is mine.

This and that
Some random photos from the last week...
Paw prints in the snow...
Some fun with the Nikon remote...
The only things left from the $264 spent on gasoline between December 12 - January 3...
The cutest thing under our tree this year.

Around the House
Some common sights at Red door this week...

A number so low that we actually turned the furnace on.
Pretty flowers from the Handy Man.
Fall Decorations.
This furry kid... Who is mad that he hasn't gone for a strut since Monday.
Blankets everywhere.
This girl... Who did everything at work and nothing at home.

Guess who...
forgot to empty the lint trap???
Me: This dryer isn't doing so hot. Maybe it's the heavier clothes?
Handy: When was the last time you emptied the lint trap?
Me: Ummmm....
Handy: Holy cow. No wonder the clothes weren't dry.
Me: Quick, get the camera and take my picture. I have to put this on the blog.
